James D. Shirley, CPA
Jim Shirley is a 1972 graduate of Auburn University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary society. He began his career with HLB Gross Collins, P.C. in 1973.

As a client services principal, Jim is closely involved in his clients’ businesses. He brings value-added services to each situation with the most efficient use of time and resources. Jim is a business consultant and advisor, with expertise built from working with many complex businesses.
Since taxation is always an important subject for entrepreneurs, Jim spends a substantial amount of time managing tax issues. He is also involved in accounting, auditing and corporate finance matters.
Jim’s industries of concentration include construction, distribution, insurance and manufacturing. While most of his clients’ businesses are privately owned, several are publicly held. A significant number of his clients are foreign-owned, leading to his focus on international tax and financial issues.
Many of Jim’s clients have been involved in transactions with public companies or public stock offerings. He works closely with them to plan and execute both acquisitions and divestitures.
